Regulations Amending the Toys Regulations (Magnetic Toys): SOR/2018-138

On July 11, 2018, Regulations Amending the Toys Regulations (Magnetic Toys), SOR/2018-138, were approved and published in the Canada Gazette. The amendments aim is to coordinate the safety requirements for magnetic toys with the requirements in the United States (US) and European Union (EU).

The aim is to reduce the ingestion hazards with magnetic toys, which have resulted in a number of serious incidents related to damage of children’s intestinal tissues. Therefore, an amendment has been made accordingly in Toys Regulations, SOR/2011-17.
