Draft Guidelines for Determining Age Appropriateness of Toys by CPSC
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published a notice March 27, 2018 in Federal Register, (83 FR 13121) to issue draft age determination guidelines.
CPSC revised the current age determination guidelines (version 2002) and issued the new drafted guidelines based on parent toy survey, literature review, and observational study from the Child and Family Research Section staff at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
This drafted guideline addresses toys that have come into the market since the last update and provides a better guideline for the industry to help reduce production cost compliance, product related incidents and enforcement actions.
